A French Student at Clerkenwell Design Week

On the 23rd of May, Tony, Brendon, Rhiannon and I attended Clerkenwell Design Week 2018. It’s the UK’s leading independent design festival which annually attracts the international design community to this small area in London. Last year, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 34,128 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.

It was an exciting and hectic day for a French intern and my first experience in the design world. Our first visit of the day was to Max Furniture to look at the #HUSH Phone Booths. We then went over to Icons of Denmark, who manufacturer very elegant, interesting furniture and lighting.

Our next stop was to Boss Designs newly refurbished showroom where we enjoyed a few drinks and had a look at some new pieces of furniture.

After Boss Design, we went across the road to Vitra. This is a huge showroom with a lot of classic and chic furniture.

We then moved onto the Brunner showroom, where we had a look at their classy and elegant pieces such as the Fina and Ray collections.

After Brunner we stopped for some lunch in Farringdon where we then went onto Techo for some Drinks. After Techo, we had a talk scheduled at Orangebox. The talk was by Gerry Taylor, Orangebox's Creative Director who was speaking about the release of his new book 'That's not a stick, that's a log'.

After the talk, we continued to have a few more drinks and socialise around the large showroom. Rhiannon even took the opportunity to take part in Camira's Sheep Competition.

Our last visits of the day were to the Elite Office Furniture Party and then onto a late night at the iconic Kusch Party. We had a look of Drinks and I met some lovely people.

I had great fun in Clerkenwell Design Week! It was a great experience.

Wish I could do it all again,

Lucille Pelletier :)
