Breakout® KI-ngs

What is a breakout area and why?

A breakout area is seen as a space( s) within an office where employees can go to take a break and relax, but due to the diversity and ever growing open plan office design breakout areas are becoming so much more. The main goal when creating breakout now is to ensure it offers a multi-functional working zone which can be used not only for taking a break, but for informal meetings and collaborative work with others. The office is changing. Employees no longer want to be stuck behind a desk or in a cubicle.

During a normal working day, people will come together and meet in a group to take notes and then disperse back to their desks and perform their given tasks. By having the right technology and right work environment, a breakout area can be used as an instrumental work space. This is because there is no need for bouncing emails around or constantly leaving your desk to ask questions of other people; ideas between people can be passed around with ease. Research has forever shown that when meetings and work tasks are conducted in a more sociable and informal environments, people become much more productive when it comes to generating ideas and brainstorming.

Breakout® - Transform open spaces, unlock the true potential of every individual .”

KI, a UK furniture manufacturer, has researched all of this and has delivered the Breakout ® range. Breakout® takes the traditional, somewhat dated, office environment and transforms it to improve the user’s wellbeing and productivity. Open plan offices tend to be pretty loud and Breakout® takes this into consideration and the range uses upholstered panels to enhance acoustical planning by reducing any noise related distractions allowing the user to focus on the work at hand.

Designed to seamlessly work alongside KI’s UniteSE and Work2 bench desking and storage systems, Breakout® can be used for many different applications. So what does the range consist of, exactly?

By taking simple elements such as soft seating, worktops and upholstered panels, Breakout® can be configured for stand-alone pods, booths and screening systems. Coming in a variety of different heights, Breakout® can define certain areas and control the amount of exposure to the rest of the office. Designed for individual or small groups to collaborate, this range is suited for creating small areas for quick meetings, phone calls or for somewhere to eat your lunch and socialise with peers.

The Focus workstations from the Breakout® range is perfect for a quick get-away if you want to…well, focus. Designed for individuals or pairs the Focus stations can be positioned next to the UniteSE or Work2 systems with a seamless integration so it doesn't disrupt the aesthetics of the office. Where its seamless design may lead you to believe they are fixed in position, the Focus stations can be easily moved around, dependant on your requirements.

Designed for recreational and teamwork purposes, the meeting hub and diner range from Breakout® is ideal for user’s to eat their lunch or hold a meeting. They reduce any distraction which would otherwise cause a distraction to other individuals. No one likes to smell that guy who always brings in heated up lunch foods or hear that noisy group chatting away. They minimalise the need for other external meeting rooms or dining facilities. Just like the Focus workstations, if the meeting hubs are not ideal in their location they can easily be moved elsewhere.

Nobody particularly likes the look of big, bulky printers and other cluttered office equipment, let alone the noise they give off. The resource centers use the screening systems to wrap around these office equipment’s to not only reduce noise levels but also add to the aesthetics of the office.
